Ransonmoor wind farm is located just over 2km. to the north west of Doddington near March, Cambridgeshire. It was developed in two phases:
Phase 1 - Operational June 2007
This phase comprises three 2MW Gamesa G80 wind turbines on 67 metre towers with a rotor diameter of 80 metres. Dean and Dyball were the main contractors for the project.
Phase 2 - Operational July 2008
This phase comprises two 2MW REpower MM82 wind turbines on 69 metre towers with a rotor diameter of 82 metres.
R G Carter were the main contractors for this phase.
Natural Power Consultants provided overall site engineer’s services for both phases.
EcoGen undertook the development on behalf of Fenpower Limited, an equal joint venture between EcoGen and the landowner, C Duncan Boughton. After planning permission had been obtained, further development finance was provided by Ventus VCT plc who purchased one third of Fenpower. Debt finance for the project was provided by Alliance and Leicester Commercial Finance plc. EcoGen continue to manage the wind farm on behalf of Fenpower.
The combined phases generate electricity equivalent to that consumed by approximately 5,515 homes and the project contributes estimated savings in CO2 emissions of 238,650 tonnes over a 20 year project lifetime.
